Need a quick fix for wrinkles and lines? Do you wish nature would have given you fuller cheeks or lips? Or do you suffer from excess sweating?

ACT NOW: DISCOVER A MORE PERFECT YOU

Over time, as the we age, the temporary wrinkles that form on your forehead, inbetween the brows, on the sides of your eyes and folds arround your mouth become permanent, making you look stern, tired or angry even when the underlying muscles are still. This happens because the sun exposure throughout the years degrades the skin so much that it loses its ability to "snap" back into place. Botox relaxes the muscles under those wrinkles while dermal fillers soften deep folds and bring back the volume into your cheeks and lips.

At U:skin, injectable procedures are performed by Doctor Awais Mir, our highly experienced medical doctor who has trained in advanced injectable techiques with the Facial Aesthetic Academy, under the personal supervision of the highly acclaimed Dr Steven Kaldor (examiner for Allergan, manufacturers of Botox and Juvederm). Dr Mir has over 15 years of expierience in performing Botox and Juvederm Dermal Filler procedures so you can be assured of being placed in highly skilled and safe hands.

WHAT IS BOTOX?

Botox is a protein produced by a bacterium, Clostridium botulinum, which can relax muscles. Botulinum toxin is reported to be useful in more than 50 conditions, including muscle spasms and stiffness, twitching, migraines and excessive sweating; it's been also used for years by opthalmologists to improve certain muscle-related eye conditions and can be helpful in treating Parkinson's Disease; in 2002 Botox received clearance by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for cosmetic use; the areas treated by Botox include 'frown lines' on the forehead (both vertical and horizontal) and 'crows feet' on the outer sides of the eyes.

Is Botox safe?

Botox is a safe and effective treatment when used in accordance with FDA-approved procedures and by qualified doctors or nurses; any side effects are generally minor, if they occur at all; our Doctor during your free consultation will discuss all the possible complications that may arise from the treatment.

How long does Botox last and when will you notice the difference?

Botox lasts for up to 4 months. With regular use the intervals between treatments increase; you will first notice the difference in 5 - 7 days with full effect seen at 14 days.

If Botox is not permanent, why should I keep having it?

It has been shown that with BOTOX performed 4 times a year for 2 - 3 years, the target muscles become significantly weakened; thereafter, much less BOTOX is needed each time or the periods between follow-ups lengthen considerably.

Do the wrinkles come back with a vengeance once Botox has faded?

Absolutely NOT; they go back to the original state or perhaps slightly improved after 2 - 4 months when the Botox has worn off; there are long term improvements to fine lines and skin texture that cannot be explained by the muscle blocking action alone; perhaps without the background muscle tone on the face, some degree of healing takes place, such that fine lines disappear.

WHAT IS Juvéderm DERMAL FILLER?

Juvéderm is a smooth injectable gel that can restore the skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, including those highly visible ones around the mouth and nose. Juvéderm is also used to plump the lips, which loose fat and internal shape with ageing, as well as restore facial volume.

Juvéderm contains a naturally occurring sugar called hyaluronic acid, which has the remarkably helpful property of binding to water; as the acid attracts water, it "plumps up" the skin, filling and smoothing out any surface wrinkles and helps replace the cushion of fatty tissue that we lose as we age and as our skin becomes damaged by the sun's ultraviolet light.

Is Juvéderm safe?

Juvéderm is one of the newest of the "injectable fillers" and is very safe; the substance is largely hyaluronic acid, a substance normally found in the skin, muscles, and tendons of mammals and is eventually absorbed by the body, usually within six to nine months. Approved in June 2006 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Juvéderm’s prime use is the removal of nasolabial folds, or “smile lines,” creases on the skin which run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth; it is also used as a lip augmentation agent and facial volume enhancer.

What Is the Treatment Like?

As with all dermal fillers, Juvéderm is injected into the treatment area with an extremely fine needle and any discomfort is usually minimal. You won't need any pre-treatment allergy testing, because Juvéderm doesn't contain any allergy-causing ingredients; it's also entirely biodegradable.

How Long Does It Last?

You'll start to see the effects of the treatment immediately; studies conducted by Juvéderm's manufacturer, Allergen, report that the filler's results last 9 - 12 months, but you may find that you will need another treatment within 6 - 9 months.
